On September 30, Save the Children in Armenia Presented the Child Rights Situation Analysis in the country.
To protect child rights more effectively, a comprehensive analysis is needed to understand the real situation of children and the opportunities and challenges of implementing their rights. Armenia acceded to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992, and since then steps are being taken to improve the situation of Children. The Child Rights Situation Analysis initiated by Save the Children was a step to get a real picture of the situation of children vis a vis the obligations that were taken by Armenia in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. As the Study has revealed, there are financial, educational, health, child protection related and other issues that children face, and their voice is far not always heard while making decisions concerning them.
Representatives of the RA Government, Donor organizations, NGOs and child rights experts participated in the meeting, during which an active discussion of the results of the analysis was initiated and various views were expressed.
The Child Rights Situation Analysis is a valuable tool for the government, donors, civil society and all the stakeholders who strive to ensure child rights fulfillment in Armenia.
